Default my new work and play pen

with the market happening this weekend and all the pens i got made i thought besides having all of them on display , ill also as john suggested to have a ballpoint and a rollerball so they can try but also want to have a nice pen in my pocket as well
soo why not a fountain pen
its amboyna burl with ebony ends on the pen
and yes i did had a blowout on both ends and only had a tiny bit of ebony spare
so they are also not same length as one end was worse
finished with 20 coats of CA

Troy ,one of the things I always do with burls ,and other tricky things like pine cones and banksia nuts is to flood the ends with thin CA before turning , this helps to hold the materials together a bit better ,its usually the ends that give way first hehe, and I do stabalise if needed with thin CA as I get a bit closer to size as well, knowing that I will be doing a CA finish in the end .Neil (dai sensei) showed me to flood the inside of these materials as well after drilling and before gluing the tube in ,this also helps to get a better bond with the tube ,just take care as its a little tricky to hold the tube turn it and pour thin ca inside so it runs through ,but not on your hands (burns like hell) lol. With this method you may need to use a round file to take out the hole a bit for the tube to fit for gluing but in the end worth it knowing you have the best bond and strength you can get Cheers ~ John

Now that is a perfect showy wood. Gets people's attention. Now you bring up a point I been meaning to ask and I will do it in a seperate thread so not to hijack this one. It is about the carry pen. Thanks for showing.

Nothing at all wrong with that Troy. The pen looks great and good luck at the markets I hope you do well.
