Some band saws (Woodfast) are supplied with one, and use a similar setup to move them about.

To get a little more ground clearance, you can mount the wheels further out the back& at ground level. The higher you lift the front, the more clearance you get.

Thanks for all the good ideas and suggestions. I had considered some of the these when I first got the mini lathe, my problem is that I don't have a lot of space to manoeuvre the lathe ie I need to pull it straight out toward me before I would be able to tilt the cabinet and move it, hence the reason for some castors so that I can pull it straight out and then move it, looking now at some form of mobile base that doesn't take up too much room, castors are too problematic.

Other than the obvious of levelling the floor of your shed, go to Bunnings and buy a couple of adjustable legs. They look a bit like a thick coin mounted on a threaded bolt. Fit them onto the bottom of your stand and you can adjust them independently (screw them in or out) to level up the stand no matter where you have it in your shed. If you also fit casters on the bottom of the table you can wind the legs in and roll the table around the shed.
