Possession of live ammunition for blanks
As a matter of interest, those who are not licensed but want to possess live ammunition (50cal, etc) to disassemble and turn into a pen can do so in Queensland with an authority from the Chief Inspector of Explosives obtained under the Explosives Act (Qld). It should not be a big hurdle to get the authority on application outlining what you want it for. If it is 50 cal then advice on the application that you don't own a 50cal weapon will help.

I do like the Safer Option. Im curious how an empty 50 cal shell can be used to make a Pen.
Would you need to use part of a Pen Kit i.e. Slimline/Streamline or other????? If this is top secret I don't mind if you don't share the info. I may be able to obtain some empty shells and wouldn't mind giving it a try. Love the forum. Kind Regards

You can buy brand new 50cal cartridge cases from ADI (Australian Defence Industries ) aka Thales.

Interesting, I have bought some of those from Wood N Whimsies as well, twice, and haven't had a problem.
As I understand the law it is not illegal to import "brass" as long as they are not primed.
I would be lodging an objection and asking them to show you the relevant regulation.
I have actually contacted ADI, and they sent me a list of their Oz resellers, but I haven't done anything about it. Don't know pack sizes and costs etc. The advantage there would be that it would be new brass, not once fired.
