    Default More prepped

More blanks prepped, for JB gents. this time Curly Huon and WA She-oak. The She-Oak however, I had a rookie error, instead of micromeshing to finish, then use the Skew to help seperate from the bushings, I trimmed before I micromeshed. Some of the steel colour infiltrated the blank and left s nasty grey stain on each end. So off the CA came, back to bare wood. Now you see it on the lathe with just one coat of CA. The rest to be applied later.

the Huon has 10coats if Medium CA which allows me the luxury of flatten sanding to get perfect finish.

and like my beauty sleep I need to stay in bed a month..... it needs lot and lot of practice. I have been giving them far too many coats, but enough to be able to give a solid 'levelling' sand. I have also been using medium CA, as i sand too much with thin.

Yes, the extra thickness is the answer to getting that glassy level finish.
