Progress...first RB
Howdy folks,
A couple of firsts actually. I am now able to drill blanks on my lathe, due to scroll chuck and drill chuck purchases. yay.
So after a bit of practice on scraps and reading of forum posts, to find the best method for me I dirlled, squared and turned my first RB.
Here is a JR Gent chrome using a stabalised yellow gum blank. Finished with 20 coats ca, mm, and polished. I'm quite happy how it turned out, and now motivated to do more....addiction kicking in...lol.
Bit overcast and rainy in Adelaide today so not the best days to take photos, was able to just get these 3 between showers.
Thanks for looking, and a big thank you to all the forum contributors for posting such inspiring work, information and answering questions.

A job well done that pen looks great and all I can say is that it may have taken awhile to get up and running but it has certainly been well worth the wait because that pen looks great. The problem with doing a pen that nice is you now have to keep them up to that standard
Cheers Ian

Thanks for the comments folks, much appreciated.
This blank came from George down Mt. Compass south of Adelaide.
I believe he is a regular on the IAP forum, cause he has asked for permission to post these pics there, to show what the blanks can look like.
Really starting to enjoy the process now, selecting blank, deciding where to cut, matching kits etc...great fun.
Can't wait to now participate in pen swaps etc....
Anyway on with more pens, gotta start using the collection of blanks I've gathered waiting to be able to use them.
I'll keep ya'll posted.
Cheers
