PSI Bolt Action modified
Hi All, been lurking and learning heaps from you all.
This is my first bolt action pen, wrapped in Red Deer Antler.
I didn't like the way the bolt action was done by PSI.
Modified the clipring and changed the orientation.
Now the bolt action works like a proper rifle.
Sold the first four I've done, so must be ok then.
Critiques always welcome. Cheers Ian

heh! there goes a million dollars of research and planned marketing in one fell swoop, good thinking and execution, we don't have to take everything that is thrown at us as the final word on things ,our modifications and changes are what makes us a little different cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Excellent pen Ian. It beats me why the manufacturers of this pen kit has the bolt action on the wrong side, just as easy to have it made correctly as you have done.
I never forget anything I remember !!

Thanks guys.
The other thing I had to do is to loctite the bolt arm into the right place as once you undo the thread it is easy to strip.

Yeah, disassembled it, filed a new slot and re-assembled it.
Turned the bolt around. Not quite sure why they got it so wrong.
They must have ordered millions so haven't had a chance to change to design I suppose.

Yeah thanks Ian, Gonna give it a go, it looks much better and I've got one as part of an order for an Aussie soldiers 21st. I'm sure he'll appreciate having it the right way around.
Cheers mate.
ps I've sold half a dozen as they are, I reckon your improvement will be a killer (oh the puns)

Hang on I just had another look and realised you don't need to change the clip, just turn the bolt....I think.

Cor bugger me. Looked at the pics for a long time and thought there was something wrong. Still can work out how you swapped it around tho.
Guess my 22 years in the Army taught me nuffin.

In the original cookie when you slide the bolt forward it goes UP to lock in place. In Ian's mod the bolt goes forward and DOWN just like a rifle action.
But Ian I can't see where the position of the clip makes any difference, as long as the bolt goes DOWN and not UP it's cool, I think. I'll post a pic tomorrow oops bloody today.
This is assuming that the knob on the bolt is pointing DOWN, that is the reference.
Cheers

Undies: If you just rotate the bolt, it fouls on the clip.
It bothered me so I moved the clip too, to the position the scope would normally be in.
Cookie: Trust me, once you've got the kit in front of you it becomes obvious.
There is a small lock screw under the bolt. Unscrew this and then you can unscrew the bolt and slide the assembly out.
The primer ring is threaded and unscrews from a brass insert. Pop a 7mm rod up the guts and tap the brass fitting out.
Carefully file a new slot 180 degrees from the old one, don't scratch the brass ring under the old slot.
Re-insert the clip and thread the primer back onto the brass insert. Press this lot back into the pen.
Slide the bolt assem up the pen and screw the bolt back in and leave it the right this time. (Use loctite to secure it). Then screw the lock screw back in (loctite).
See, simple
Cheers Ian
