Hi can you help me with suggestion. I been asked to make a wedding pen with a white feather. Does anyone know where I can get either pure white acrylic or a wood suggestion?
Thanks

It's sorta like acrylic, but is more opaque... often used for kitchen bench tops & splashbacks. It isn't usually very thick though, perhaps 12-13mm so needs a good eye when drilling.
Tomorrow I'll look through my offcut bin and see if I have pieces I'm willing to part with. (Hint: I might need reminding.)

I have a real silly question what about a cutting board(those hard plasticy kind)? could you turn it?

Rodent and I get ours from a factories' offcut bins and they're getting to be very tight with it. I think their accountants have been throwing a hissy fit.
I should have some spare, but I won't make promises. Not until I get out to the shed and actually have a look, anyway... Which'll be tomorrow. I've been cooking out there all day today doing some $%&#! sanding and I'm not particularly interested in going back out again tonight. If I don't have any "Arctic" left (a plain, snow white) would some "Snowflake" do? That's sort of a creamy colour, with flecks of pure white scattered through it. I'm pretty sure I have heaps of that, 'cos it's what I use in S&P mills to indicate "Salt."
I've cut and carved the nylon cutting boards before, but I've never tried turning one. I can't see any reason why you couldn't though... but it is very, very soft compared to wood and would need a light touch.
Let us know if you have a go. (Hang on... you just got yer new Nova didn't you? I'm not s'posed to be talking to you... I'm s'posed to be sitting in a corner sulking... )

hey toni. i had a look at ebay and there isnt much white stuff that is over 1/2 inch. so you would have to laminate if you wanted to use a larger kit.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Corian-3-4-Fat-P...QQcmdZViewItem theres one that is 3/4 inch
there looks to be white in this one

I'll probably post a pic after finishing the stands on the weekend. The Bonewood was a pain, splinters and open grained, but I wanted to use real naturally coloured woods. I also used the pink ivory, purpleheart and ebony.
You could also use coloured pigment in resin and cast your own.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
