Good luck with it Neil, I hope you get some keen bidders.
I took the easy way out with my pens, I gave them to a local group that were raising money for the floods. They used them as prizes in a "Goose Club" raffle they ran at one of the local pubs.
Impossible to put a figure on how much they raised, because thay were among many other prizes donated by local business's and individuals.
The group raised over $5000. with the goose club, a sausage sizzle, etc.

Well after going through all the necessary approvals to sell them on Ebay, contacting all the consulting and construction firms I know, radio and TV channels, football/cricket/soccer clubs, posting on various associated Qld club forums.......
It got a lousy 2 bids and sold for $152.50 I would have been better off selling them at the local markets . maybe next time I will just give them to a local club to raffle off like Ironwood.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

It's a shame they didn't reach your hoped for price Neil.
Every little bit helps is the way I look at it though.
Mine probably didnt raise a huge amount either, maybe could have sold them in my shop and donated the money, who knows.

Somebody got a bargain!!! sorry Neil, that is why I prefer to sell it myself and give the money to someone personally if possible, or next best thing to someone I know that knows the person(s) in need. I have a healthy distrust of fund collectors and distributors(although some are genuine) and especially if it is Government mismanaged er I mean managed-- There are still many from Black Saturday without help and enough funds in the Government managed fund to help them, but they need a big pair of scissors to cut the red tape! Not a great response on E-Bay , I suspect too many bargain hunters for a genuine charity Item, but you tried, did your best and none can do more than that . John

By the way Neil, what I have said takes nothing away from your wonderful effort and superb pens and cuff links, had I known the price I would have offered one cent more!!! and been the proud possessor of those items! Amos

Not good
eBay is a funny beast - handcrafted items like pens etc don't get anywhere near their worth (which is why I won't offer my stuff there)
on the other hand, an old stanley plane will quite often sell for more then it is worth
go figure
But all in all, a great gesture!regards
Nick
