Quality pens
I bought some pens from the wood show, but I'm not happy with the quality. I'm after a nice click-pen that clicks smoothly with a light touch. I tried many at the show, and eventually picked on, but I'm not happy with it. It's VERY heavy to push, feels like the barrel is full of sand, and after a few clicks, it gets stuck, and you have to push the nib back in. I've tried oiling it, but no improvement. For $8, I would expect far more than this. I've got 100 cheap plastic pens that feel nicer.
Anyone know where I can get a quality click pen kit that will be worth the effort that I put into turning a nice pen?Good things come to those who wait, and sail right past those who don't reach out and grab them.

Sounds like you got a sierra click, middle of the road at the best of times ,so far the click mechanism I favour is the soft click on a vertex . For a 2 part pen in a click I always go for a power pen, which comes in a pencil as well ,I don't think the power pens and pencils are available in australia so that ups the cost considerably because of postage .
You can get the vertex kits from Here ! and maybe other suppliers as well .

I think this is the one I have...
CWS Store - Pen 9 Click Pens | Carroll's Woodcraft Supplies
I would like this style if possible, as it closely matches the pencil that I bought.
I've ended up getting it improved. Still very heavy, but not so crunchy feeling. Turns out there is very little tolerance in the pen. The centre had a very slight bend in it - enough for the cartridge to rub on the tubing of the middle joint and keep jamming. I straightened that, and covered all the moving parts with silicone spray and graphite powder and cut down one of the springs to reduce the pressure a bit. Still doesn't feel nice, but at least it works.Good things come to those who wait, and sail right past those who don't reach out and grab them.

Most of the click pens and pencils are very critical in the tube lengths ,any shortness will play havoc with them welcome to the wonderful world of pens cheers ~ John

All the Pen 9 clicks I've done seem to stick so gave up. I prefer the Longwood Click from GPW and I think that's the same as the Executive Click Timberbits now stocks. I've had no problems with it and find it a very comfy pen to write with.
