Rick
A mate years ago gave me a couple of pieces from a 2 ton burl,I saw it on his workshop floor,he hired a guy with a mobile Lucas Mill to cut it up for him.I will see him tomorrow night since my wifes friend made a number of green baize bags to give with his bud vases as they leave him.I will ask him what kind of timber it was.
He will go through with me the size, costing of the Huon Birdseye Burl stick I showed on another stream recently,ie the brother to that one,it represents the holy grail to me in timbers, not to be found ever easily with a golden glow about it.
There is a fine furniture maker has this multi multi knife rotary unit that will face that piece for me. May even mount it that way on the living room wall at home,he shares my love of this rare species.
Pic is that timber from same batch,OK I am weak, could not resist to show why I do things. This is one of my mates boxes.he is famous for them.
