QUESTION re ROMAN HARVEST
Can the cap decoration in the top of the cap next to the clip be removed and replaced?
Many thanks Peter.Nil Desperandum

It’s too expensive a kit for me to play with but I guess it probably is because Timberbits sells these.

I haven't modified the clips/tops on these, but I received one in a pen swap and it modified itself Trim on the clip fell off about 2 weeks after I received it, no biggie to glue it back on, so it shouldn't be that hard to remove intentionally. I'm guessing the same would apply to the top.
You can also buy a complete blingless kit, or the individual blingless parts.

Thanks Fred I have this plan to create an exceptional ending. I have a kit somewhere should reexamine it.
Kind regards Peter.Nil Desperandum

The bling can be a bit gaudy at times. It would be nice to have a 'traditional' style pen kit available - not the current Traditional. I think I will try the Churchills

You're right Greg, some of the kits (the Roman Harvest isn't the only one) are quite "blingy" and do not suit everone's taste. The amount of bling on the Roman Harvest tends to appeal to women, but they usually baulk at the size and weight of this kit.
My own personal favourite kits are the El Grande and the Churchill, not blingy and lots of possibilities for customising. Next favourite would be the Jr Gent 2, bit bigger than the Jr Gent 1 and somewhat better quality (at a higher price!) and a bigger range of platings. Very nice kit for closed end pens.

Too true Fred. I was looking at the work of a guy in Canada who makes pens along the lines of the old Watermans. He puts an opal into the end of the cap and a gold disk into the barrel end of the pen. He also puts his business name in gold leafing on the barrel of the pen. They are some of the best I have seen and just reek quality. Mind you I think he was a jewellery designer earlier in life for one of the big fashion houses in Italy. He certainly has the skills to perfect the pens. His website is worth a look - http://www.aileronpens.com/
I've got a couple of Churchills on order from Perfect Pens. I just have to find the time to get down and pick them up. I bought a mandrel for doing closed end pens but again I have to find the time to get to the shed. I still have to finish a few stylus pens for the next market and then I will try the closed ends. Time poor and kit rich at the moment.
