Default quite a few done in one go

    Hi everyone,

Just a few I knocked together.

The first 4 photos are of a Golden Wattle Jnr Gent in Chrome. Sorry about the lighting but the flash just washed out the colours dreadfully on this one.

The next 2 are Turkish Walnut (xcut) on a gold dayacom magnetic.

The next 2 are african blackwood, two tone, chrome elegant beauty.

Next one is Tasmanian Leatherwood on a majestic squire.

Next 2 are Sandalwood (not sure of species) on majestic squire.

Next 2 are ringed gidgee on an elite cigar.

Next one is curly Jarrah on a copper cigar.

Next two are false sandalwood on an elite cigar.

Next two are Tasmanian Musk on a chrome cigar.

Last one is Tulipwood, chrome sierra.

Whew! All are finished with a few coats of wipe on poly but I'm finding the results a bit underwhelming so it's back to lacquer dipping again. I haven't had any luck using lacquer as a friction polish for lower end pens so I'm going to have to just dip everything and try to find a quicker way to cure it.

The African blackwood pen was oiled and left to its own devices. It should sheen up nicely with use.

    Thanks for looking.

Very nice looking bunch of pens. Photography is nice and clear but your problem lies in the background being the colour it is and is casting a hue over the whole picture and washing it out. Much better on a light background to give a nice contrast to the subject but lovely pens nevertheless. Don't mind me and my opinion regarding your photo skills. I am the worlds worst photographer.
    Reality is no background music.

Munruben your points about photography are quite valid and I appreciate the feedback.

I'm trying to build a light tent to eliminate the issue but I haven't had much luck with it yet. Very tempted to just buy one. I've tried photographing on white paper but it washes out. I need a better lighting set up as well as background. The light tent seems the best way of taking care of both problems.

    Nice set of pens

I recently bought a photo tent from Crazy sales in NSW

80cm White Photo Studio Soft Light Photographic Tent Cube with 4 Backdrops | Crazy Sales

They have 2 types - the 80cm for $39 and a 40cm version ofr $17-99. They come with various coloured backdrops and are just the thing for photographing pens. The material is designed to allow soft light through from lights placed outside.

That's the one I've been looking at. I really should update my camera too but it isn't on the financial cards yet.
