I am new to pen turning, but for near future reference I would like to know a good quality kit for making a 270 Cal. bullet pen and a 50 Cal. bullet pen. These will be for my Grandsons and I want them to last a while.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Ray for the 50 calibre ,one of the guys on the IAP site in the USA sells a powdercoated kit including a pre drilled copper projectile which you can then use to make a pen with a "Parker style " refill using a cigar mechanism . You can also get 50 calibre kits from some of the pen kit suppliers using cross refills and you turn your own projectile end from either wood acrylic or other materials . I don't know about .270 as I usually use the 308 or 306 shells and a cross refill kit (can be a slimline kit ) I am sure others can make recommendations on these though Cheers and welcome to our "OZ" forums ~ John

Eric Rasmussen at Little River Crafts

Kits by Caliber : Bullet Pen Kits

can help you with both and he is your side of the pond.

Failing that I make and sell .270 kits as well but it would be easier for you to get them over there.

Mate, pull up Penn State on a Google search. They are in your country and offer a vast range of pens and equipment as a very good price.
