Red Ebony / Cooktown Ironwood
A stretch rhodium roller ball, in red ebony or Cooktown ironwood. The finish is a wipe with rubbing alcohol wipe,3 coats of Ubeaut shellawax glow and 6 coats of Minwax wipe on poly.
The timber came from the Northern Territory and is very dense.

Sam, that type of wood looks like it could make for "man's" pen, well done, Amos

I'm confused about the kit. The first 3 pictures look like there's a huge taper from the end to the nib, whereas the 4th looks straighter. Were you using ultra wide angle in the first three, which give it the perspective look?

Russell, just the angle of the camera. the pen actually tapers slightly from the nib back to the finial. I was using the macro mode and fairly close. Kit comes from Lau Lau wood works in Hawaii. The Zen pen is similar but does not taper

Nice pen.
Just a question about the finish. Why shella wax glow first and then WOP? I would have thought shella wax would resist WOPanne-maria.

Looks like a nice one, Sam. I like the finish and the photography is first rate!

Very nice pen Sam, another timber I have never seen, will have to start swapping some of my Sheoak blanks for some of these rare ones that pop up now and then.

I have been experiment with the finish and have found you can use the shellawax and glow first then the WOP next. As long as you get a good burnish on the Shellawax I have had not problems. The shellawax makes the blank pop and the WOP seals and gives the depth. I have also used ebonising fluid from New England Woodturners to success
