Red Malle Burl Elegant Beauty
Hi All
This was my first go at an elegant beauty. I mistakenly thought that because it has a smaller tube size it would be thinner than a sierra but it has a lot more timber left on the tube so they end up about the same thickness.
So here is a Rhodium and black titanium Australiana elegant beauty from timber bits, dressed in Red Malle burl from Swino. Finish is 15 coats of thin CA, MM to 12000, brasso and Hut ultra gloss.
I'm pretty happy with the result but as always comments and criticism are welcome.

Looks great
I think the EB's are a better kit than the Sierra's but you pay for what you get.
Well doneCheers Rum Pig

I like it.......I can turn large lumps of wood into very small bowls

That's a nice looking pen, the RMB sets it off nicely.
I like the EB's because the end screws off to relace the refill, much better than the Sierra .
But I still have a hard time convincing customers, the majority still always go for the Sierra, the only thing I can put it down to is the Sierra shows more blank, so its got a bit more colour to get them in. ( sounds a bit like fishing lures )

Hey There,
Very nice pen, I also like the Mallee Burls, I am getting some on Thursday from Mudley, I like the EB, but as stated by Ironwood, the customers seem to go for the Seirra's.
The Finish is super, try doing the micro mesh before the CA and see how they turn out.

Thanks Harry. I had noticed on some of your posts that you use the micro mesh before and after the CA. I currently dry sand to 800 before the CA but I can imagine that going to 12000 with the MM before the CA would give an even better finish. Probably a silly question but do you use it wet or dry before the CA?

Hey WH,
I use it Dry, and I found that after the MM, the CA goes on smooth enough that most times I just go with the Hutts Wax straight onto the CA, with no extra sanding. Works for Me.

Nice pen- i also prefer the EB its a little bit heavier than a sierra and the twist mech feels better but they are more expensive
