Red Mallee Burl Cambridge
Hi All
Just finished this Cambridge fountain pen in Red Mallee Burl.
The color of the burl seemed a bit "washed out" so I gave it a wipe with some red analine dye mixed with pure alcohol. I didn't think it would take on such a deep color but I am pleased with the result..
It was sanded to 1200 then the dye applied allowed to dry and sealed with nitrocellulose sealer, buffed with 0000 steel wool and then 6 coats of Rustins, cut with burnishing cream and polished with Plastix
Love your comments

Very nice fit and finish BB. I love the RM burls as they give pens a nice impressive look. The Cambridge is a good kit at a reasonable price, especially if you were able to take advantage of David's special on them.

Hi Bowl-Basher
Wow. That is a fantastic combo.
The red is a bit too red for my liking but I am sure the girls will fancy it.
Thanks for sharing.
