Better refills
I find that the standard refill that comes with the budget priced Sierras does not write very well. They keep missing on some surfaces, especially if there is any sign of oil from your skin on the paper.
Which type do others recommend as a replacement, the Dayacom, Schmidt or Gell ink refills. Obviously the Schmidt is the top of the range, but do I need to go that high on a budget pen. I also don't want customers to be unhappy with their purchase.
Opinions please from you more experienced people.Dallas

I upgrade all of my ballpoint pens with a private Reserve Easy Flow 9000 refill. They are available from many vendors but I use www.exoticblanks.com

I agree that most of the kit supplied ones are pretty scratchy and hate giving out any pen with the stock refills, although for the cheaper ones I do currently as my budget is running tight, but really this is false economy and I'm about to change.
As you say, if your customer has a bad writing experience, they may not come back again. A good exterience will encourage them to come back at least for refills, if nothing else, although I still thinkmost customers will just go to Big W for their refills in the end.
I tried out some Private Reserve refills (which are custom made for them by Schmidt generally) and liked them so much, that's all I use now, and I have just started reselling them on my web site.
Same with fountain pens. The stock cartridges are marginal, and i'm using good wuality inks for them as well.

I always give my customers a try of the pen for balance and writeability ,most are happy with standard refills, but I always give a decent refill with each sale (usually dayacom )
I do sometimes upgrade them to a rollerball if they are not happy with biros, some of the rollerball refills are only so-so though . For my market sales they get stock standard at my sales prices ,for custom I try to make sure that all is as perfect as possible
cheers ~ JohnG'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

I have just replaced the stock refill in my everyday pen with a Dayacom I had laying around. I will try this for a while to see how it goes. It sounds like the Easyflow 9000 is a good option from the recommendations of those above, so I will look into these for the better Sierras.
Thanks for your opinions.Dallas
