Anyone Remember Eagle?
Hi Guys
I know that several of you guys are also members of Eagle's Woodworking. As you know this site was formed to raise funds for the late Eagle's family.
Over the last few months many extraordinary puzzle makers have joined the site and tomorrow evening I will be launching a Pen/Puzzle & Puzzle/Puzzle & Pen/Pen swap.
To raise the funds, there will be a very modest US$20 entry donation.
One of the members is also holding a raffle for some of his prized collection of amazing wood puzzles. You need to check them out!!!!
I hope it was ok to post this message here, but it really is for a worthy cause
Many thanks
Steven

I arrived too late to know Eagle, but I see the way people talk of him and I think that I
missed a great opportunity to learn, be challenged, be inspired and pushed to think 'outside
the box'. I may not be up for a challenge yet, but I'm up for a swap. Got a site?

I looked up the link you gave Skiprat, and am very impressed by the testimony of others towards "Eagle", I registered to be able to get into the site and happy I did so. I know very little of the man, only what I am currently reading, but sounds like a worthy cause. Amos

Eagle
The old bird Eagle was many things to a lot of people, some loved him, some hated him, some love to hate him because that's what he did, challenge people. People who just wanted to know how he did things were given the cold shoulder. But if you could show that you were putting in some sort of effort then he would be a bit more forth coming. Last pen blank we both were talking about was consisting all of paper, maybe it will be a fitting tribute to eagle to finish it one day.
Eagle always called me an Ugly SOB, as a joke I said he could so he did. When we spoke on line we always took turns at making the coffee and supplying the donuts. Eagle to me was a good friend, good enough to call him a mate. A while back before he passed he came on just out of the blue and said what's wrong, never called me an Ugly SOB, just what's wrong. That night we talked for hours and he stopped me for doing something really dumb.
I have never spoke of it here and I never will, I have on his site to honour the man and what he was like to ones that didn't know him and what he met to me. So for the ones who didn't get to know Eagle, have a look at his site and marvel in his brilliance. He was way ahead of his time.

Darren, when I read the testimony-I KNEW in my heart it was you. Thank God he was able to help at that time. Amos

I was fortunate to meet him for a weekend while on a business trip to the States.
He offered a room at his home in South Carolina but it was too far for me to travel and still get back to Pensylvania in time so he drove in his battered old pick-up all the way to Washington DC and we stayed at his best friends house. This of course is Lou, the man who created the site I linked to. I learnt more about life than pens over those two days and I hope I never forget it.
He was very much a blue collar worker and while he was tremendously skilled with his hands, he never could afford the nicities of life like insurance and savings accounts.
Hence the fundraising.
There are a vast amount of fantastic prizes in the raffle and the swap is gaining momentum. Don't miss out
Thank you
Steven

You are 100% correct Amos, and (I believe)that there are still more prizes that haven't been listed yet It would be daft NOT to enter
I just wish that we had more entries in the swap, because there 'may' even be prizes allocated to that somehow. I'm working on it. But it's a secret, so don't tell anyone.
