Thanks Don,
Very beautiful result. Thanks for sharing. This appeal to pen-turners to post images by Peter has really started something. Great!
How did you find the conkerberry to turn and finish? Happy with the result? I always find that bright orange spectactular
Cheers Euge

I'm still here at least.
I haven't been able to do any pen 🖋 turning since my life was turned completely upside down when on the 8th. August 2014 at 2.30 pm I was diagnosed with a brain tumour that proved to be cancer. I had brain surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane then underwent fifteen double doses of radiation therapy whilst in a High Care level nursing home. After six months of being in the home I moved to Beaudesert because I still had my beloved Charlie Brown Maine Coon X cat and I could not secure us accommodation in Toowoomba as I previously rented privately. I was doing well up until the last few months but now it seems like the blasted brain cancer is making a return. I get my MRI brain scan results on the 22nd. February AND I'm hoping for the best while preparing for the worst as I reckonise the previous symptoms. At least if the cancer has came back it won't cover one quarter of my brain as it previously did as it's been estimated that I had brain cancer for eight years before I was diagnosed. Whatever it is I intent to fight until the end. In the meantime if it's worse case senerio I will be asking for the Gamma Knife radiation treatment as I have done very well according to my specialists at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Sincerely Penqueen who still has her Jet Mini Lathe and LOTS of various pen blanks in boxes of my garage as I have moved back to beautiful Toowoomba after my beloved Charlie Brown Maine Coon X cat had to be put to sleep when his chronic asthma worsened overnight to the extent that fluid acculimated around his heart ♥

I forgot to add that I'm back in beautiful Toowoomba now as sadly my dear old furry friend Charlie Brown Maine Coon X cat had to be put to sleep when his chronic asthma worsened overnight to the extent that fluid acculimated around his heart.
Sincerely Penqueen.

A long time friend has a couple Main Coons among her 3 or 4 cats. Look after your self and don’t worry about the pens until you are better again.

Sorry to hear about your cancer , and all the associated things it brings to your life Penqueen. I hope this next lot of scans won’t bring you bad news.
I am also a cancer survivor, I had a very rough patch in my life when it all happened. I am now past 10 years since they gave me the allclear. It certainly changes your life in a lot of ways.Brad.

You have certainly been through a rough trot and we can only hope and pray that things are not as bad as you are anticipating and you can get back to a normal life soon.

Eugene,
The Conkerberry turned very easily and finished quite well. Nice that it has two "eyes" to split the clip!
I use UBeaut waxes, as 1) CA stinks when applying and 2) UBeaut is non toxic just in case a kid happens to have a nibble on one of my pens.
Yep, I am happy with the result and that blank was NOT one of your premium blanks - just your "standard" kind. Gonna be fun to see how a "Premium" blank comes up.
