Default "Roman Harvest" Yet another Croc Pen

    Hi all,

Well here is my third NT Croc Jaw Bone & resin cast pen (Green and Gold) Again the kit is from David at Timberbits and the blank is one of Neils special castings. Each time I do one of these I like it even more than the last one !!
Again I had a blow out which happened well into the turning however again I was lucky enough to find the one complete piece and re glue it into place without even being able to see it at all. The piece came clean of the tube and did not look as if it had bonded correctly for whatever reason, But all is well that ends well.

I do like how the line of the recesses where the crocs teeth had been continues down the entire length of the pen in this one, it really gives it more of that authentic jaw bone look

Anyway keen to hear what you all think.

    Thanks
    Tony.

Came out really well , just goes to show every single blank is different.

I've done 3 of the videos, Aus Salt Water Croc Pen Blank Part 1 Introduction - YouTube Aus Salt Water Croc Pen Blank Part2 Drilling Blanks - YouTube Aus Salt Water Croc Pen Blank Part3 Glue up & trim blanks - YouTube, unfortunately everyone will have to wait until I'm down in Melbourne before I can finish the Turning and Polishing ones. That's when I will put them all up for sale .

Sorry, but all the issues I have faced in the past month associated with the car/camper/trip have put them on the back burner. I can say though, I am leaving tomorrow and will post under Travel (yes one of those other sub-forums )

    Cheers
    Neil

Tony please Kindly stop putting these croc Jaw pens on the forum because all you are doing is making me more and more envious of the work you have been
doing and it's just putting more and more pressure on me for when I do the ones I got off Neil at the GTG on Saturday The pressure is sure on but I am keen to have a go at them soon.

But Seriously mate they are great you have done a supurb job on all of them

Also is that the best pen you think is suited to those particular blanks I have the small and Lge in them so would like to hear what you suggest ?

    Cheers Ian

    Ian,

I am sure you will turn out some really fine croc jaw pens once you make a start. Just slowly slowly, sharp tools and avoid any heat build up. The Roman Harvest is a kit that I like and especially for this type of blank. Quality, good look and feel but without being to expensive.
For these blanks I feel that the Roman Harvest is an ideal size but I am sure there would be some others that would be up to the job.

    Cheers
    Tony.
