Dyed with Trans Tint diluted in alcohol, finished with 10 dips in lacquer, no sanding or polish.

After...I didnt know how it would turn out and didnt want to "ruin" the entire piece, so I dyed it after I turned it...soaks in quite well in fact.

Ed, For the great unwashed here in OZ what is Trans Tint and what alcohol. Bourbon or our Bundy with a dash of Coke.
Seriously, I am unsure of what the product is and where it can be obtained or a similar product sourced in OZ.. I have a Daughter and S-I-L who work for an International airline who are in the USA regularly, might have to call in some favours owed.

Sorry for the late reply...many many softball games with my 2 daughters teams and no where near enough time...
Isopropl alcohol, although the Burbon sounds pretty good right now!
TransTint is made by Homestead Finishing...it is a concentrate used to dye finishes like poly, lacqure and can be made into a stand alone dyd with water or alcohol, although alcohol works better...next time I am going to use denatured alcohol instead of the medicine type and see if it flashes off faster.
They also make a powder concentrate that is great....
I got it where I work part time, WoodCraft, but Rocklers should carry it, and most other wood working suppliers should have it too...
Here is a link to the maker of it..
http://www.homesteadfinishingproduct...ocs/stains.htm
They make a lot of stuff besides stains and dyes.

Thanks Ed.
My daughter will be in LA four times during May and June staying at Costa Mesa and Google tells me their is a Woodcraft store at Garden Grove 10 miles away.
Unfortunately for me it may be a bridge to far to visit a woodworking store that far away., now if it was Victoria's Secret there she would be there in a flash.
So near and yet so far away.
