    Default Saved pen plus others

I was turning a pen from a very brittle piece of burl when a large piece broke off.
I had already smothered the blank with CA to reduce chipping, a tip from HazzaB, thanks Harry.
I glued the piece back with more CA then realised that it was firmly stuck to the bushes. Got my "Stanley knife" in between the bush & timber & gently rolled it back & forth with a tad of pressure. After 2 or 3 minutes it slowly came apart. Have to remember to rub a little BLO around the bushes next time. The pen I "saved" was the York Gum Burl ?.

    HTH someone.

Pens are L to R...Red Mallet Burl ?, York Gum Burl ?,Olive root.

    Hi Pariss,

Finish is 12 coats of CA, followed by EEE & Shellawax.

I really like the Olive root, t came up like marble.

Isn't it great when we get so many different 'challenges' in pen making? Keeps it interesting.

    Nice end results.
