My wife told me to get fire trucked
Hi guys,
First a big thanks to Corbs, the man is a legend.
I turned my first pens today and when I got home to show the wife, she didn't believe I had done them. She actually told me to get f___ed, no way, are you serious?
So thank you again Corbs for introducing me on what is sure to be a long and slippery slope into pen turning.
The Sierra is Western Sassafras with a CA finish, sanded to 20000 (correct me if I'm wrong) and the slimline is Jam with Glow over EEE.
Paul

Paul
I agree those two firsts are great, best looking BHSassafras I have seen for a while mate and Jam is a beaut timber. Experiment on your next Slimline with a little more timber left and shape it to suit yourself.
All the best Peter.

Happy to help any time, the preparation, turning and finishing is all Paul so the only credit I can take is a bit of advice and the equipment used. I stuffed up with what was supposed to be the first Sierra (used the thin Baron tube), so this one was a second attempt. I have to admit now that it was a good mistake to make as this pen turned out really nice. Does anyone know if Sassy burls as this one appears to have some burl in it. The Sierra is finished to 12000 with micromesh finishing pads everything else is as stated...
I am still laughing at what the wife said, surely thats a good thing for the business case on the lathe.
CorbsIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
