How do you find the ali sticks with CA? I've had mixed results.
Spot on. The Al blank broke at almost every joint during drilling and a couple of times during turning. If I ever do some thing similar again I'll use epoxy.

Neil, you may or may not know this, but if you want to use really thin aluminium then you should use beer or coke cans. The coating on these takes CA very well.
I learnt that from the late 'Eagle' Don't worry about the painted image on the can either, it is so thin that you will never see it.

Skippy,I have tried lamenting with a strip of coke can, but unsuccessful.
The thin strip of aluminum , when glued into the blank and turned, always had a wavy look from where I had cut the can.
Do you have any tips on the cutting of the coke can.

Terry, I don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll just make a seperate post. I'll call it 'Thin cuts'

Great idea. A can would be the perfect thickness. I found the copper too thin and the Al too thick.

Not sure I am, I never get anything else made . Also, there are also so many talented pen turners around these days, some of the once beginners here are now leaving me for dead . So many beautiful pens I often don't have the time to comment.
