My First Set Of Roman Harvest
Hey All
Well here are my first set of Roman Harvest done today
First one Rhodium with Black Titanium wrapped with a home casted blank called Fire and Ice with York Gum Burl. 20 coats of CA then wet sanded with 800g and polished with NP to finish. This one I am keeping for myself
The next one is Rhodium with Gold Titanium wrapped with a solid PR home cast called Fire and Ice
Got a few more to spin up but I am really happy with the results on these two
Thanks
Ian

I am in two minds about this pen Ian.
Firstly, congratulations on a brave experiment!!
I'm not sure that using three element like this works well. The sharp
line between the acrylic castings gives an "unnatural" look when compared
to the natural edge of the burl with the castings.
To me there is too much confusion in the overall look of the piece. This, of
course, is just my opinion.
Otherwise, well done.

Mate ur opinion is always welcome ;-) and I do agree with the unnatural line and there are others that think the same but there are also other chasing these blanksD
As u know the edge is were I liveD and I am in the process of cooking up some ideas to remove the unnatural line one of them will be to if I can get the colours to swirl without them mixing and creating New colours and the others well u will have to wait and see
P
So I will endeavor to put ur mind at rest my friend. But please feel free to give feed always on my work as this is why I post my freaky and bold ideas here ;-)
Thanks

Hey Ian, nice work and great finish on these pens. As you say you gotta experimant outside the square. My opinion is that either one of those colours on their own would look awesome with the York Gum, but then it would be similar to what others (including myself) are doing or attempting to do. So keep working on what you are trying to acheive with this triple combo, you can obviously see something there and you being you I am sure you will find the solution.

great fit and finish on the pens, but like the others i am also not enthralled in the combination of resin colors, but if you want an idea as to what may look good and i am sure you would be the one to get it right judging by this set
one side red/black and the other black/red, then you would be able to call the blank....... a Red belly Black snake.... damn back to snakes and i started it
great experimenting though
the swirls look great, just not over wrapped in the color combos
don't take this to heart just my 2 bobs worth
all the best
