awe mate I am so sorry but yep you got it dead right I can imagine you will need a real sharp tools and I found on hard work the skew and very light strokes are the key. I can't wait to see your harley symbol. Praying you pull this one off for you

Shrinky dinks comes in sheet form like paper. What ya do is trace a picture and color it then put in the oven /about 1 or 2 miniutes and it shrinks. When it shrinks it goes from the thickness of card stock to about 1/8 of an inch. It is a type of plastic but thats all I know besides it's cool stuff.I have done so much for so long with so little I can now do almost anything with nothing!

Years ago, they were included in breakfast cereal packets for a while. Already precoloured though... with things like bluebirds, etc. on 'em. As kids, we just threw 'em in the oven and watched 'em shrink before gluing 'em to the outside of our school folders. .
Never seen a supplier of the uncoloured sheets though...
Sorry to hear the work was wasted, Jude, but I reckon that you'll soon work out how to best manage 'em and when you do you'll be turning out some truly unique pens.
Perhaps shear-scraping may be better than using a skew? Bevel rubbing from the skew would make more heat and it might've been uneven heating that blew out the shrinky. Just a thought...

Woodenink. Alot of people have been calling segmentmenting inlay. Their is a difference. Inlay is whear ya carve out a peice and put it in the void thus called an inlay. Segmenting is whear ya cut the blank before turning and glue in peices of wood/corian/bone ect... Try googling inlay. But basicly to inlay ya trace the thing ya want to put in the blank(after ya turn it down to almost proper size) and carve out whear it's gonna sit glue it in and finish turning it down. Hopes this helps, here are some links http://penmakersguild.com/articles.htm http://www.woodturningonline.com/Tur..._projects.html
