Sierra casting with some glitter
Had the great pleasure of being visited by Dai Sensei the other night and spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening turning some pens. The one pictured is of some redgum burl with my daughter's glitter as inlay. We had it turned and finished approx 90% of the way and then Neil had to go and have his beauty sleep, he said another couple of CA coats and you're done. Last night I decided to finish it up, while trying to seal the ends of the blank with CA, some of the CA got onto the pen barrel and my finger stuck to it, oh well, put on the CA coats again. Anyhow it's finished now but I must say I loved the experience of watching a great pen turner in action and really appreciate your input and knowledge Neil. Sierra pen 002.jpg

got to be happy with that.
I like the purple glitter, goes well with the timber colour.

Looks like a perfect finish Tony . Try taking some more shots out in the sun from different angles to show off the infill.
Had a ball the other night thank you. Shoulder no worse for wear. I've been thinking about a banksia with each hole filled with a different glitter ever since . Something I can do without hurting the shoulderNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Thanks Fly and Neil, will try and get some more shots but usually dark when I'm at home. Glad to hear that the shoulder is not too bad.

So did you discover the cause of your CA lifting in your other thread?
Glad to see Neil didn't have any ill effects on his shoulder from the bit of turning. Hopefully that's a sign that it's on the mend.Dallas
