Sierra Jazz
Here is a pen I made a few weeks ago for my best mates fathers 80th Birthday. It is a flat top Sierra with a special blank I purchased from Charlie (New London). I had no idea how to finish it off and panicked that I only had a week to complete it after I finally decided to get it.
I ended up going with the cameo look and added no colours at all and just lightly sand the blank and then finish it of with what seemed like a thousand coats of CA. I done layer upon layer trying to fill the areas that had been removed and make the whole pen smooth. I finally completed this with a day and a half to spare and in the end I was pleasently surprised and pleased with the end result.
I look forward to your comments.
Cheers Ian

Ian is correct.. it is sugar maple. (the stuff we get our morning syrup from!) also called
rock maple or hard maple. It does take a bit of CA, but I usually throw it in a ResinSaver
and cast them in clear. Lots easier!
let me see if there's pics of the other images..
ok, found two..
Nice job, Ian!
ps... the image with the guitar has been modified. Someone told me
that it looked obscene. In black and white, it doesn't. But in 3D?maker of the original ResinSaver mold
