That is also how I have overcome the issues, but at (at the time) of anything up to $25 per kit, I would expect more. Obviously I can not afford to buy my kits directly from "Diacom", as they have a minimum order quantity of a quantity far in excess of my requirements, and consequently there is little comeback. I suppose as we (Australia) is a miniscule market in the overall scheme of things, we have to just take it as it comes.
Regarding the pencil kits for the Sierra, I managed once to get the twist pencil kits for the Sierra from Timberbits, but due to the level of failures (his words), he has discontinued the supply of these kits (sadface). I have also purchased a supply of the pencil kits from Schmidt (sp) and would look forward to you trying out the kit conversion and advise your experiences. before I attempt
BTW how is the 32mm roughing gouge going ?

Soren 32ml Gouge is the ONLY tool I use, apart from the Skew on occassions!
As for the kits, yes, I too have experienced these "breakages" with HIGH END Sierras from the States and elsewhere!!!! Titanium Gold, Platium/Titanium etc; the plating is good, but the manufacturing assembly is the same, therefore same weakness all round. I think from now on I may try to tug on the end and see if I cannot pull it apart before the customer gets to it!! AmosGood, better, best, never let it rest;

Wow, I must be lucky so far, as nothing like that has happened to any of mine, although some of those kits with the plastic threads, I've had the thread not finished properly, and it's started to "unwind" from the casing it was glued to.
