Nice looking pens, I’m sure they will love receiving them.
Both the timbers go well with the platings on the hardware.
Which Ebony have you used ?

Not quite sure on these, as I have received a mixture of true Gabon Ebony, NG Ebony, and others in a lot. It the same as in the blank supporting the pens. I'm leaning towards Gabon Ebony but not confident.

I have some NG Ebony that I got from a member here, it looks very much the same with the black and brown streaks, but I am not confident enough to make a call just on that basis.

A very good looking trio of pens. Nicely made and nicely photographed. I really like the way Hairy Oak comes up and I always keep my eye out for it as I don't seem to see it around that much.

Probably from the same forum member?? I have purchased some NG Ebony with Amboyna burl pen blanks and also received a mix of NG & Gaboon Ebony from another member. These came from the second source.

My opinion for what its worth....based on my experience (exceptions in a species can always be found)

Gabon (African) ebony is more often a clean black heartwood
PNG ebony often has brown streaks as does Macassar Ebony (Indonesian)

Euge, I checked back to the posts where I sourced these from - PNG Ebony it seems from best attempt to identify.

It seems that we got our bits from the same source. So I’m leaning towards NG Ebony as well.
