    Default Sierra Willow Leaf Hakea

Latest, Willow Leaf Hakea, some say it is a type of woody pear, as you can see, this blank had natural sap in it and I had to stabilize from the beginning and as I went. One blow out but CA'd it back on. Finish is CA. the pen is a gold Sierra. Amos

Really can't say I'm a fan of that glitter but a nice pen anyway

Nice work there Amos and nice save on the blowout. Great finish too.

I normally don't mind a bit of glitter in this situation, but feel that the green detracts from the overall effect. I think a bit of gold glitter would have looked better, both with the gold kit and the tonings of the blank.

    Very unusual pen though

    Nice pen Amos!

Hakea is sold as Woody Pear.

I like it too Amos, like the contrast between sapwood and heartwood. Silver Needlewood is a Hakea too. Banskia, Hakea and Grevillia's all have similar grain structure in the wood (they all make nice pens). A couple of questions:

With the glitter, do you just sprinkle some in the void and then glue with CA?
If the above is CA, thick or thin. If not CA, then how?
How do you get the glitter into the voids?

Have been playing with the same idea but using turquoise dust to some effect but need to perfect the process.

    Corbs

Thanks all, Fred have to agree that gold would have been better way to go, I just thought I would give green a go. Corbs, sprinkle in the glitter, then THIN CA on top and a quick spray of that stuff that sets off the CA(forget the name and I am at work at present), then you may need to repeat. Amos

    Amos,
From looking at that first pic, I would of thought the pen would be unsalvagable...nice save. Love the grain of the wood.
