SWMBO came home today from her job told me that she sold 2 pens to one of her work mates then wisely showed me what I have to use for the blanks

Just tell her as soon as it softens a bit you will do it hehe, actually I think I made one out of zebra stone a few years ago, light creamy color with dark brown stripes ,from memory it was almost like a sandstone ,possibly sedimentary ? .Worked out ok I seem to recall . cheers ~ John

Wait until Aldi's have their wet diamond saw on special again, then take a slice, then cut into pen blanks. Diamond drill for the hole with water, make sure you get the long drills. Glue with very good epoxy on tube after blank is dry. Rough down to size with diamond blade on a grinder, then sand with good quality sandpaper. CA finish, your done.

If it is the soft Zebra Stone from Western Australia it can be cut on a bandsaw, drilled with normal drills and turned on the lathe with HSS chisels.
