9 dips in Duracryl automotive lacqure, no sanding or polish.

I buy it...
my part time job sells the stuff, it comes in just about any exotic wood or hardwood you want, plus maple dyed in blue, black, red, yellow, white, green and purple.
No skill at veneer cutting myself.
Watched a presentation by David Marks, realized I would never be that good...besides, I'm too lazy to work that hard!

Surely you had to sand it before you started to apply the finish!
