    Default Something different

    I wanted to try and get the grain that I saw when I turned a piece of Sheoak firewood into a bowl. So I tried something different, I cut the blanks across the grain as well as an angle.
    here is the result (first photo shows both the normal and the cross grain versions)

    Nice going Rick. I like the look of the crosscut pen, it certainly gives it a different look than straight cut.

    Very nice display of the casuarina rays .... and as Ironwood says beautiful when cross cut. Lovely turning and finishing too

    edit: This looks like Karri Sheoak (Allocasuarina decussata), Is it?
