    When you say spalted Myrtle, I assume you mean Tiger Myrtle, looks like it to me.

    Tiger Myrtle has a different spalting pattern than spalted Myrtle.

    Tiger Myrtle happens when it has the fungal infection while the tree is alive and still standing. This spalting happened after the tree was cut down and left in a damp dark place.

    The spalting is not as pretty or consistent as Tiger Myrtle but still very striking.
