Default What should I do with all the spare nibs from fountain pen upgrades?

I thought about this question for months. I didn't want to throw them away, that would be silly. I could have sold them or given them away but would people really want them?

Eventually I came up with an answer.

I have a feeling that this might even be an original idea. If it is, I give EVERYONE permission to steal it, modify it and better it. None of this greedy 'my idea' crap...

Anyway, here it is. THE PEN PEN. Made with one of NewLondon88's Resin Saver molds. If you don't have one, get one.

Waste not want not hehe! I probably would have faced the nibs towards the nib end of the pen but there is no end to what can be cast and turned to produce a distinctive and interesting outcome , well done on that one cheers ~ John

    Great idea Reece

Did you flatten them first? The kit looks like a Sierra, so you have done well to cast them under the final dia.

I read the title of this thread and while I was waiting for it load I was trying to think what you could do with spare nibs BUT I did not expect this.
I do agree with John facing the nibs towards the business end.
I think it looks fantastic and consider it pinched. I just received my resin gear so look out.
You could call it the fountain pen for left handers
    Well done

I did indeed. The hardest part was keeping the tines together as they move apart when the nib is flattened.

And yeah, a Sierra kit so not a lot of meat to work with. Studying the pen closely, it looks as though I've come close to uncovering the little ball at the tip of the nib, but I think I'm in the clear.

For the record, I used diggers clear cast with 5 drops of catalyst per ounce.

    Very ingenious!
    Great looking Writing Instrument.
I agree, I would have the nibs pointing towards the writing end.
This would really look great on a fountain pen.
    Well done.

What a great idea, terrific. My first thoughts were the nibs should be pointing the other way but nevertheless it looks fantastic. Well done.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John
