STAR's charity pen
STAR (Peter) needed to turn a pen for a charity auction, so came around with a nice piece of fiddleback Red-gum and an Elegant Beauty kit from GPW. I've helped him turn a few pens in the past, but he is a bit slack when it come to posting pictures of them , so I took this photo before he left. It looked great and was finshed with CA. The photo does not do it justice, my the light tent seems to take the shine off , and no depth in the grain to be seen .
I'll leave STAR to post the details about the charity.

Queensland Nurse of the Year
Thanks to Neil for a great pen.
The pen is for a donation to add to the prize pool of a raffle and fund raiser for a Gold Coast Registered Nurse who is an entrant in the Queensland Nurse of the Year for which all proceeds go to the Queensland Cancer Council.
My wife asked me to make one on behalf of a Nurse workmate and as I am still learning this caper I asked Neil if he would make the to be donated pen.
Because my wife is heavily involved in Palliative Care as a Registered Nurse working in the Community she would like to ask if anyone else would like to donate a pen, I know the entrant would be really grateful as these great peoples work often go unnoticed.
The pen does not need to be one of the expensive ones, even a simple slim line would be acceptable although all would be gratefully accepted.
The more prizes that are available the greater the likelihood of offering better quality of prizes spread over more winners which hopefully means an increase in the number of tickets sold and extra prizes to be given at various fund raisers for this great and worthy cause.
If you can help, please send me a PM and I will give you my address details.
Thanks.
Peter.

Yes David. You are right on the money.
Thanks to you and Stan the Showman of Mullimbimbi of the Working with Wood Show fame. I thought it was the right place for it to finish up and I will let Stan know and he, and this Forum will be acknowledged by the Queensland Cancer Council when the competition is finalized and all donations are documented.
Unfortunately I got nothing from the Greenies at Nimbin, I thought I nice Hemp pen might not be suitable for a Nurse of the Year Entrant.
Thanks for a great day and company.
Peter.

I received John's ( Munrubben ) pens today . A Sierra ( Oak ) and a Slimline (Apple ).
They are great pens especially considering John and myself had not turned a pen until our appetite was wetted at a small pen turning day at Artme's place last year. There was John, Arthur ( Artme ) and the master himself Sam ( Simomatra) plus myself. Obviously John was paying more attention than I was because the pens are excellent.
When a few more pens come in I will post a collective photo. Thanks John for helping out.
Peter.
