    Default Stone Acacia Sierra

    Hi All,

    Here is a "Stone Acacia" pen blank I turned to a gold and chrome Executive Sierra (Australiana) kit from Timberbits yesterday.

    I bought a bunch of these blanks from eBay. The story behind the blank can be found here. They are quite difficult to turn - very old and hard. I had one blank explode a few weeks back, but this one turned out nice. I did lose a chunk out of the centre of this one (not down to the brass tube though), which I managed to fill back in with sawdust and CA. Didn't look bad, but not fantastic either so I hid it under the clip.

    Finished with 21 coats of thin CA, then MicroMesh and finally brasso to finish.

    If we throw away every glitch that can occur our production would suffer considerably, part of the penmakers arsenal is to turn "oops" into "ahhhs" its the finished product that appeals not minor imperfections that only you can see ,happens all the time ,I am sure thats why they invented clips hehe, cheers ~ John
