Onward and upward Ian
I have been known to make the occasional pen using the Streamline band and suggest a method to increase slightly the size of the pen and turn the centres to the top of the band size and ever so slightly round the edges to give continuity into the band that is now level with the timber ever so subtle but it works for me.
Like your pens very much and I believe you are enjoying the journey.
Kind regards Peter.

Ian ,depends which methods you use with CA as to how it performs , too thin a coating it will soak in to the wood, CA normally doesn't reach full hardness for around 24 hrs I am lead to believe . The blo method I think puts a very thin layer on the timber and it softens up slightly with heat (sanding buffing ) , I have had that problem of the finish soaking in to the timber ,not just with CA but "Glow" as well. I pretty much use Neils (dai sensei) method these days which ends up with a hard protective shell of CA up to about a .250 mm or about .010 " when MM d and polished gives real depth to your timber and a high gloss like glass , I still have some problems doing this finish but when I get it right it is well worth the trouble . IF you do use this method ,because of the relatively high buildup you need to allow for the blank when turned and sanded to be just slightly under size at the bushes to allow the buildup to bring it back to a perfect match ,experience will let you know how much either way to allow ,this is why this addiction is so absorbing ,there are unlimited ways to go about dressing up the kits hehe. Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Ian, looks like you are having fun, thanks for sharing those pens with us, I like Peter's suggestion(if only I can remember it when I do one), and CA, maybe a few more coats, and finish it off the next evening. Amos
