My first successful casting.
I've just started this additive thing called casting, and I am still in the try and see what happens department. Though I have learnt that a little gold power goes a bloody long way, say the almost pure gold blank I first cast.
Anyway today I tried mixing 3 colours together and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Its a pretty basic pen but I was in a hurry so....
Its actually a silver/grey under the pocket clip, colour isn't really showing on camera. Yeah its my mobile, really should work out where I put my camera.

Well to be honest that is a great first up effort, I really like the greyish side it is just a pity that the grey doesn't seem to have gone all the way through.

I will agree with tdrumnut that is a pretty good effort for a first up casting effort and you are sure going to wish you hadn't go into this casting business

Thanks guys.
Yeah the grey always seems to go to the bottom, no idea, maybe its just me.
I'm going to try and get my hands on some syringes and needles and try injecting area of coloured resin. But do you know how hard it is for a young guy in a somewhat druggo suburb to get needles, LOL.
This pen took ages to make. Why you ask? I lost the damn bushes, so I had to jump on the metal lathe and make new ones, so much easier to buy new ones.

Great first effort. Your local doctor might give you some needles and syringes. Its pretty hard to get needles from a chemist.

There is a small acrylic shop over Salisbury way that has blunt needles and plastic syringes which are used for acrylic glues. They do have an online shop also so do a search for Global Acrylics and you should find them.
Not sure you will be able to use needles and syringes though without making a big mess, the other concern I would have is that the resin is fairly thick in consistancy and you may not be able to force it through the needle. After use the needles and syringes would more than likely be un usable again too, so might be a little on the expensive side too.
Cheers
Tony.

Thats a fantastic blank, who would have thought it was your first one.
I bet your home turned bushes ended up better than the store bought ones.
I now turn all my own bushes out of stainless steel, I dont have the out of round issues that I used to have when using the bought ones.

Da Sensei, (Neil) should be able to help you with the setteling issue, he is a master caster!
For a first try, or tenth, thats a good looking blank...."That's why I love my computer,,,,,,,, my friends live in it."

Was this poured into a flat or vertical mold?
The coloring is actually very pleasing to the eye! And works well with that kit hardware.
