Tasmanian Myrtle Burl
For me this blank is the most exciting Myrtle I have seen. The intricate patterns and relief in detail is amazing.
When in Tassie years ago this sort of material was mostly in the base of the logs we enjoyed cutting and stacking for a musical instrument level burl getter in the North of Tassie helping him was great. This carried out after the loggers had been through and shortly before the Copse( no not cops) was burned to the ground. No time for standing around I remember.
Regards Peter.

Beautiful pen. I suspect it would be a knockout in person.
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

Hey Peter,
The resolution on my monitor isn't the best, I think that you should send me a bit and I try it for myself,
I can't see the pic very well but I think I get the Idea.
I reckon that it would look awesome dressing out a Junior Victor Fountain Pen.

Hi Peter
Great Pen! Love the grain in the timber.
I would love to some day go to Tasmania and cut some burl, sounds like so much fun.
Thanks for sharing.

Another class act Peter!!
Your ability to make a simple pen to rise above the pack never fails to amaze me.
How many different timbers do you think you have turned Peter? Would be interested to know.
BTW, I think I have a mate to that piece of burl Gorgeous stuphph.

I like the myrtle burl pen shown earlier and just some info for any who are interested. Mark at 043turning has had heaps of timber for sale and noticed he had quite a range of tassie timbers so it may be worth a try for anyone interested.
Cheers

That's the nicest piece of myrtle I've ever seen! You have done it great justice with that beautiful pen.
