    Default Texas State Quarter Pen

I just wanted to share something with all. This is an American Quarter that has been rolled, cut and cast in resin! Any comments, criticisms welcome! Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Hi Seamus, thats a great looking pen.
I would imagine it took a lot of work, did you have to file down the thickness of the coin to make it fit ? I'm thinking a full thickness would make it too high.
Are the coloured bits resin or decal ?

PS, this thread might do better in the general penturning section, as it doesnt seem to be getting much traffic by here.

you are absolutely right, Dang-it, I couldn't figure out how to get into the right area for this. Can the moderators move it to the proper location?

Well done Seamus, looks great and very imaginative.
Agree with Ironwood, should get it moved to Penturning general as I had to have a bit of a search to find this thread.

    Excellent fit and finish.
    Well done.
Have to be real careful up here, it's illegal to deface coins of the realm.

I did some research on defacing currency and actually called the US mint and this is not considered defacing money. By definition the way I read it, is if you alter or change the value of the coin or currency for personal gain, i.e. make a quarters(25cents) value more than what is printed on that coin. Besides, you see people doing this all of the time making belt buckles, earings, and all sorts of stuff. Here is a link to a coin company over here that has an excellent reputation and I highly doubt if it was illegal, that they would be doing this.

Just the way I see it, Many people are misinterpreting the word "defacing".

Hehe ! I have bent sixpenses and threepences to embed in pens , I left the faces on ,so should be fine hehe. If our government sold off the shredded notes to general public like in the US and Canada they would probably get more than from some recycler per pound .
