    Default Tibouchina !

Neil. (dai sensei ) was passing by a couple of days ago and left me 2 out of three special blanks to play with They are spalted Tibouchina (native to Brazil) I believe .turned one into a phoenix kit to show off the blank a bit better lots of subtle creams and browns ,Just as I was taking it off the lathe another friend turned up and bought it on the spot as a gift . Wish they were all that easy lol. Cheers ~ John (just a couple of quick snaps for evidence )

I get them from Woodturningz its one of their own lines , I have far too many sierrias on display hehe, these are a bit longer ,but not much, and the thickness and extra length make some suspect materials a bit easier to deal with as they are not getting to extreme thinness.
    Cheers ~ John

The Tibouchina grow profusely up in the Northern Rivers NSW although we had a tree in Sydney but knew it as the Lazyandra.
