Need Smaller Tied Flys .....
To make this work.
I found the smalled tied flies I could find, but they are too large for a Sierra series pen blank.
Will have to see if I can get some that are much, much smaller.
Any fly fishermen out there with any ideas?
Les

Will be a beauty if you pull it off Les!!''Perhaps you need tpaint the ook onto the blank, or try trick photography.

I assume you mean the thickness of the fly and lack of thickness for the Sierra? Sierra Vista or the Elegant Beauty have more meat to play with. Alternatively, you would have to place the fly in the middle of the blank, then introduce a curve to the sides to give the required additional thickness.

Les ! anything over 2 mm thickness being inserted makes for a very thick pen in most cases ,even on vista kits ,with your flys I am guessing about 3 mm ball dia ,,you could try drilling a small counter sink hole in the tube where you want to place the ball section to allow the ball to recess in a bit to reduce thickness ;as long as the hole is smaller than the ball dia it wont be seen and can reduce your finished thickness by a similar amount ,also you can file a flat on the brass ball to do the same thing cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!
