    Default Timber Identification

To help in the future for my small info using Zebrano or Zebra Wood.

It feels fluffy a bit like Cedar, it has a distinctive sweet smell and could be likened to something you stepped in where the dog has been. Easy to remember.

    Hope this helps. Peter.

That's a good description of the zebrawood smell. (although 'sweet' never came to mind..)

First time I started turning it, I checked the bottoms of my shoes a few times before I
finally realized that it was the timber that smelled funny and not my shoes.

Strange how you come to love the smells of certain timbers, even if you don't particularly like them. I love the smells of cedar, pine, cocobolo, lignum, kingwood, olive, bloodwood, bocote, amboyna .. and even as a beginner, I think I identify them blindfolded. The smell just makes me think of enjoying 'me time' in the shop..

Yes must admit love the smell of Olive (though always feel it should be with a good red and vintage cheese..... but the shavings get in your teeth!!!)

    Life's short.... enjoy it!!
