Today's effort- four new pens!!
Hi all, I turned these up today out of some blanks I recently acquired.
I am just using cheap kits until I get a bit better. This is only my third attempt at pen making.
From top to bottom in the photo on the left, the timbers used are; Morrel Burl; Concinna Mallee Burl; Gimlet Burl and Tiger Myrtle.
Comments and suggestions appreciated.
Cheers, Matt
I'm confused??? Oh wait... Maybe I'm not?

Nice set... I really like the red & cream burl. Third attempt and turning burl pens... congrats
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Nice pens. The tiger myrtle always catches my eye.
You have access to some really nice blanks, there probably worth more than the kits.

Nice timber. Well fitted to the kit. great job
I like mine a bit slimmer, but then you have to show off the timber. And each to their own.
what was your finish?

Thanks. I like the "fatter" end on my pens and not just because there is less money turned into saw dust, they feel more comfortable also. However, I think I will try the slimmer look next time around. I give most of my woodwork away as gifts and such so I also make things to suit particular people's taste.
I sanded the pens down to 1500 grit and then wet sanded with Hard burnishing oil down to 4000 grit. I prefer to let the timber breathe and look natural rather than coat it in plastic or CA. As you say- each to their own on that one too.
