An Amboyna burl , I wanted to turn one from the first time I seen a Pen made with it, Beautiful is the only way to descripe it. The second best Timber burl I have ever made a pen with the best was the Black Locust burl I did a couple of weeks ago.. Now I have 2 in the Keeping Box.
Love the range and colours of the burls both from Australia and over seas, who needs plastic.
Now to try and find some burls out of Canada, seen a couple of pens from there done in burls like I never seen

That does look very nice indeed, well done. Do you collect any burl material or other interesting blanks locally?
I have some really nice red mallee burl, bullock bush, our local sub species of black oak, false sandalwood etc. Also I have beautifully figured brown mallee burl from a street tree that was removed in town, still green but am trying to dry some small bits out. Give me a holler on here if you want some, it is very speccy, cheers, seriola

Sorry, don't have burl from the false sandalwood, but have some nicely figured stuff form branch crotches. Don't know that I have seen any burls but wasp damage might come close, will see if I can find you some
