    Default A few from tonight...

    Evening all,
With less light to play with at this time of year, I seem to get less time in the shed. So here are a few I finished this afternoon.

I will be honest with you, the filigree sleeves are on wrong (they slide off) so will need to make a couple more and put them together properly next time. Finish on the slimlines is Shellawax Glow over EEE. CA on the antler pens sanded to 12000.

    Enjoy,
    Corbs

Hi corbs ! I have done a few of these filigree slims and you are right the tube id is larger by a small amount in the I.D than the O.D of a normal slim, you have to fit to size when sanding, but they do have a lip on one end which if you place it at the filial end the filial will retain it so it doesn't slide off , I also found the finish is a bit lacking the edges of the holes in the sleeves is quite sharpish .they do dress up the more plain woods on the slims though, adds a bit of appeal but not much more value I find . Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

    Thanks John,
I picked up the different diameter and turned the top barrel accordingly. Where I stuffed up was put the lip you referred to on the bottom of the barrel rather than the finial end. It works ok for me though, I can just pull the sleeves off and remake a couple more pens to take the sleeves. I got a box of 10 or so in an order from the States but don't think I will bother with them again unless I get any specific orders (I'm not really a big fan)

    Hi Corbs
which supplier did you use for the filigree sleeves? I like the concept of the filigree but the 'real' kits are too pricey to give away.

    JD,
I purchased the fillagree (just realised I spelt it wrong on the photo & thread starter) sleeves from Wood n Whimsies, here is the link to the sleeves and site.

I was lucky to get in contact with a hunter through work. The antler was given to me in return for a few pens out of it. When I was looking it was suggested to investigate deer farms to maybe get shed antlers. Good luck finding some.
