New toy
I haven't posted much or even had the time of late to turn, i've also been holding off a bit because i knew this was coming. I had enough time to unpack it and test run it on friday then had to go away for the weekend . I've also been instructed to move my garage workshop into the shed, so i'll get a few turnings in and posted before the move i hope.
Looking forward to some new features i've not experienced before and hope to lift my turnings up a notch or two.
Would also like to thank Gary for coming into the shop on a local public holiday and opening up so i could pick it up, run me through some of the features and show me around, some real quality service right there.
(Garys business is a forum sponsor too i believe so i got no problem giving him a big thumbs up i hope).
So far i've managed to find an unused step tread and bolted that up to an old WL20 lathe stand (it'll have to do for now). Out of the box it was pretty simple to attach up the bits and pieces, and set it up, and give it a run, more than happy so far with it, although its not had a wipe down to remove the factory oiling or seen any wood yet. I didn't have my allen key set/s to hand so wasn't able to take off the faceplate on friday.

You are going to have heaps of fun on that! Looks and sounds like a great set-up.
You were smart to deal with Gary. He's a top bloke>

Nice bit of gear and a variable speed I see. I am jealous as I have to change the belt constantly.
Did you get the DVDs I posted to you.

Thanks fellas,
Well thisarvo i had some turning time, see other post, and what a unit, falling in love with it. About the only fault i could pick with it so far is that it didn't come with allen keys, but thats quite ok. gives me a reason to buy some new ones and keep em at the lathe specifically for it.
And secondly, i ripped the adaptor out of my chuck expecting to find a m30 x 3.5 thread ready to use but unfortunatly its not, so i'm in the market for another chuck i think, thats more of a "darn it" my problem for sure. I think the wl 18/20 lathes have a 1" x 10 or 8 tpi thread so i could probably get away with an adaptor, thinking i'll buy a nova though.
