Twins
My "twin" brother is 2yrs younger than me, but we share the same birthday. Mum and dad were too poor to have two at once, so he had to wait. I call him Rastus and love him dearly even when we get together and argue about almost anything. He travels Aus and the world a bit with the company he owns, but we caught up a coupla weeks ago out in the shed where I happened to have a leftover piece of blackwood from the order he placed for 30 pens from before christmas. So in between trying to save the worlds problems (a lot of beer and scotch) with our often opposing views, I designed and engraved this for him. I finally decided to finish it and I'll give it to him soon. I really like it. Especially the fiddleback.
cheers

PS I've just noticed the hairline and I shoud have faced it off again after the CA coats, but thought what the hell it's only for Rastus. But then I showed off here where you blokes see the mistakes. Oh well it's only for Rastus. Those who can do, those who can't don't.....................I think?

Getting there mate. If I might just say, you need to square off the end of the blanks before you assemble the pens. That will remove the excess CA build up on the ends and help stop the blank splitting when you assemble it. The timber will then fit against the metal kit perfectly. Hope your brother likes it. What do you use for the engraving?

Hi Undies,
What I have found is that when squaring of the end of the blank you can sometimes leave a slight burr on the ends of the tube. If this burr is left on it can cause splitting when you press the components onto the tube. I use a debburing tool which I run around each end of the tube prior to pressing together. Since doing this I have no cracking or splitting
Cheers
Tony
